Valuation and Outlook
Mankind Pharma delivered a strong Q2FY27 performance, driven by growth in domestic formulations, outperformance in chronic therapy, and sustained momentum in the BSV portfolio. Domestic secondary sales grew 15.7%, outpacing IPM growth of 14.2%. Growth was broad-based across cardiac, anti-diabetic, gastro and vitamins and minerals. The company’s focus on chronic therapies, new launches, expanded hospital coverage and deeper market penetration should support sustained growth, with management targeting a 100-200 bps annual increase in chronic contribution and a ~50% share of domestic business over the next 4-5 years. BSV continued to deliver strong growth across specialty segments, while international business momentum remained healthy, with management expecting double-digit growth in FY27. Consumer healthcare remains a key monitorable, with growth expected to stay single-digit in FY27 before recovering in FY28. Profitability improved meaningfully, with EBITDA margin expanding 210 bps YoY to 27.1%, above the FY27 guidance range of 25.5-26.5%. However, management has retained its full-year guidance, limiting the scope to extrapolate Q2 margins. As we move forward, we remain positive on Mankind Pharma’s growth prospects, supported by its strong domestic franchise, improving volume trajectory, increasing chronic mix, sustained BSV momentum, and a gradually expanding international footprint. The company’s focus on strengthening its core portfolio while selectively investing in specialty and innovation platforms provides a credible foundation for long-term growth. Nevertheless, the sustainability of domestic outperformance, the recovery in consumer healthcare, working-capital discipline, and returns from incremental R&D investments remain key monitorables. Thus, we expect Mankind Pharma to generate stable revenues over the long term and is trading at a PE of 37.3x/31.5x on FY27e/28e EPS estimates. We value Mankind Pharma at 43x FY27e EPS and have revised the target price to Rs 2,887.

Domestic Business Outlook:
Management highlighted a strong improvement in domestic execution, with revenue excluding consumer healthcare up 15.9% YoY to Rs. 34,280 mn and secondary sales up 15.7%, outperforming IPM growth of 14.2%. The improvement reflects stronger volume growth, stabilization of the sales leadership team, better field-force execution and broad-based traction across chronic and acute therapies. Management reiterated its objective of consistently outperforming IPM, with indicative outperformance of around 1.1–1.2x over the next two quarters. Further growth is expected from increased chronic penetration, expansion in hospital business, new therapy-focused divisions and improved execution in underserved states.
Chronic Business:
Chronic therapies remained a key growth engine, with cardiac and anti-diabetic portfolios growing 19% and 16% YoY, respectively. Chronic contribution, excluding BSV, stood at 37.4% of the domestic portfolio, increasing 80 bps YoY. Management aims to increase chronic contribution by 100-200 bps annually, with a medium-term ambition of reaching ~50% over the next four to five years. Focused medical marketing, new product launches, selective in-licensing and brand acquisitions, enhanced specialist engagement, and deeper penetration across high-potential therapies are expected to drive growth.
India Consumer Healthcare Business:
The consumer healthcare business remained relatively subdued, impacted by slower category offtake and regional weakness in eastern and southern markets. Despite muted growth, the company reported market-share gains in key brands, including Manforce and Prega News. Management acknowledged that performance remains below expectations and said consumer healthcare growth is likely to stay in the single digits in FY27, with a stronger recovery expected in FY28.
International Business Outlook:
International revenue rose 33% YoY to Rs. 6,800 mn, supported by strong performance across BSV, Mankind US, and other international markets, which grew 34%, 29%, and 37%, respectively. Management attributed the growth to strong branded specialty performance, new US product launches, and favourable currency movement. The company expects double-digit international business growth in FY27, while its export business has tracked above 30% in reported terms against a constant-currency dollar growth expectation of about 20%.
R&D Pipeline:
Mankind continues to strengthen its innovation capabilities through investments in specialty products, biologics and differentiated therapies. R&D expenditure stood at Rs. 1,080 mn, equivalent to 2.5% of sales in Q2FY27. Management expects full-year FY27 R&D spending to approach the upper end of its 2.8%-3.0% revenue guidance, including the impact of Armed Cell Therapeutics (ACTX).
Acute profile:
The acute portfolio continued to recover in Q2FY27, supported by stronger performance in gastro and vitamins and minerals. Management indicated that the recovery remains progressive, supported by rebuilding the mass-specialty portfolio, strengthening engagement with consultants such as surgeons and ENT specialists, and introducing new products. The company expects further improvement in the coming quarters, aiming to match or outperform IPM growth as new launches scale up.
Capex:
Management reiterated its FY27 capex guidance of 6%-7% of revenue, with spending directed towards manufacturing capacity, R&D infrastructure and specialty capabilities.
